My Main interest is motorcycling. I have ridden motorcycles for a number of years b ut, like a lot of bikers, I had a long spell off bikes, (12yrs), and when I took up biking again I very soon realized that a lot of things had changed, the roads were more crowded, driving standards had fallen and bikes were much more powerful. Yes you have guessed, I am a “Born Again Biker” or “Recycled Biker”, that by now infamous group of high risk potential accident statistics that have rediscovered motorbikes instead of quietly pottering around the garden or otherwise wasting away. I currently own a Honda CB600F Hornet and a Honda STX1300 Pan European on which I have done over 30,000mls in the last 4 years which includes several trips to the continent covering Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland and trips to the British MotoGP and British Superbikes at Donnington Park and a brilliant few days at the Goodwood Revival Meeting as well as many runs with friends from Yarm Motorcycle Club.

I am a member of a number of clubs as listed below:
Yarm Motorcycle Club
A ve ry active and well run and friendly club with regular ride-outs throughout the “Riding Season”. The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month in the Cleveland Bay pub in Yarm and new members are always welcome. In the “Riding Season” members meet outside Yarm Town Hall every Sunday at 10:00am and every Friday evening at 7:00pm in the car park at Yarm Rail Halt for ride-outs. All are welcome so why not just turn up.
Northern Pan Riders
Another very active and well run club for owners of both Honda ST1100 and STX1300 Pan Europeans. They have organised rides virtually every weekend, club nights, tours abroad and an extremely good Email notice system. Membership also has the added benefit a some very good discounts at a whole range of dealers and retailers etc. (click on logo for club web site and contact details).
Durham Avanced Motorcyclists (DAM)
If you a re considering advanced training then I can thoroughly recommend an Advanced Riding Course with the I.A.M. (Institute of Advanced Motorists) of which DAM is my local group. After not riding for 12yrs and then getting back onto bikes again it did not take me long to realize that I, (and no doubt other road users), would benefit from some advanced training. DAM also has a good social side with club nights on the last Tuesday of every month at the Newton Grange Hotel Durham, usually with guest speakers, and regular ride-outs. British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF)
I am al so a full member of the BMF (British Motorcyclists Federation) an organisation dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of motorcyclists. Many other benefits include discounts from affiliated companies such as Motorcycle Direct, (Bike Insurance), Motorsport Travel, (travel and ferry bookings), Edgar Hamilton Ltd, (travel insurance), and much more including legal representation, travel and touring advice, rider training etc. The BMF is probably best known for the annual BMF Show, usually held in May at the East of England Showground near Peterborough. My particular favourite is the Tail End Rally in September, also at the East of England Showground. (click on logo for web site and contact details).
